Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Highway Technician to join the Highways Delivery team in Hampshire. The role offers training and development, working to maintain 8,000+km of highways and footways across the county.

You may be deployed at Hook, Petersfield, or Bishops Waltham depots, with travel expected and a full UK driving licence required. You will assist engineers in a variety of repairs, respond to emergencies, and ensure the highway network is used effectively.

What you’ll do:

As a Highway Technician, you will be assisting engineers in delivering a large variety of highway repairs throughout Hampshire as well as dealing with highway emergencies, adverse weather response and highway enforcement to enable the efficient use of Hampshire’s highway network.

You will have the ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the role (it is essential that you have a full current UK drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis), and, as required, be able to work out of hours to respond to weather and other emergencies.
