Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting Laboratory Technicians for laboratories and projects across the UK. You will perform in-situ sampling and laboratory testing of materials, including concrete and aggregates, to high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.

The role requires experience with UKAS accredited testing, attention to records, and flexibility to support the wider materials team. Driving licence and CSCS card are preferred credentials.

Qualifications

• Experience with testing concrete and aggregates per relevant standards.
• UKAS accreditation experience is preferred.
• Ability to maintain accurate records in a lab environment.
• Willingness to support wider materials team as needed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out site sampling and laboratory testing to high safety, quality and efficiency standards.
• Keep and file records to satisfy the laboratory management system and UKAS requirements.
• Perform testing to applicable British/European Standards.
• Maintain test equipment in good condition and calibration.
• Communicate testing requirements with clients and site staff.

Building a sustainable tomorrow We are currently looking to recruit Laboratory Technicians at laboratories and projects throughout the UK. Locations include

• HS2 South Laboratory, Aylesbury, Oxfordshire
• HS2 North Laboratory, Greatworth, Northamptonshire
• Devonport Docks, Plymouth
• Hinkley Point C, Near Bridgwater, Somerset
• Kilsyth Laboratory, Scotland
• Inverness Laboratory, Scotland

The roles require a suitable candidate with experience in materials related testing ranging from Concrete and Aggregates. Candidate will need to be flexible as there may be a requirement to support the wider materials team within the business from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that site sampling and laboratory testing is carried out to high standards of safety, quality and efficiency
• Ensure that adequate and proper records are kept and filed correctly to satisfy the requirements of the laboratory management system and UKAS requirements
• Ensure that sampling and testing is carried out to the appropriate British/European Standards
• Ensure test equipment is checked, cleaned and maintained to an acceptable level
• Communicating regularly and effectively with internal/external clients/site engineering staff on testing requirements

• Previous experience of working within a busy UKAS accredited laboratory
