Job summary

Sofina Foods Grimsby is seeking a technically minded Advanced Operator to uphold food safety and quality across the production site. Reporting to the Technical Shift Leader, you will optimise daily routines to ensure on-time, first-time quality with rigorous checks and proactive problem-solving.

Your role includes supporting the production team, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with company procedures while advancing a culture of continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene (or equivalent) required.
  • Quality auditing experience preferred.
  • Experience in chilled and frozen production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure area/production line is prepared to meet performance, food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure customer and legal requirements are met and products conform to specification.
  • Check incoming raw materials and ingredients meet internal specs.
  • Calibrate weight and temperature measuring equipment and report issues promptly.
  • Verify product labels meet requirements and conduct routine site audits.
  • Report non-conformances to Line Manager and support corrective actions.
  • Collect samples for laboratory testing and support production teams.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety procedures and audit findings.

They are able to optimise their daily routine of checking and assuring quality and safety standards across the site to ensure the product in deliver on time in full, with a ‘right first time’ mentality.

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Shift Leader the Technical Advanced Operator is a highly motivated pro‑active skilled individual with food safety & Quality at the heart of everything they do. They are able to optimise their daily routine of checking and assuring quality and safety standards across the site to ensure the product in deliver on time in full, with a ‘right first time’ mentality.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure area / production line is ready by checking appropriate machines and areas are set to correct performance, food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ensuring all customer and legal requirements are met and product conforms to specification.
  • Checking incoming raw materials and ingredients ensuring they meet our internal specification.
  • Ensuring that weight and temperature measuring equipment is properly calibrated and issues reporting to Technical FLM without unreasonable delays.
  • Checking product labels conform to requirements.
  • Performing regular routine audits on site in line with procedures.
  • Reporting any non-conformance issues to Line Manager.
  • Collecting samples for laboratory testing.
  • Supporting the production team to get things done and recorded correctly, and making sure that everyone complies with company food safety procedures.
  • Ensure internal Non-conformances are investigated thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Drive right first time attitude amongst fellow work colleagues, including production.
  • Advise Line Manager of any issues preventing the production plan being achieved.
  • Carry out process control checks at set intervals ensuring adherence to specification.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene (or equivalent)
  • Quality Auditing experience.
  • Experience of working in Chilled and frozen environments working with meals production, coated fish products and white fish processing products.
  • Knowledge of fish products, Production & Packing products around coated processing.
  • Efficient in delivering objectives and key measures.
  • Ability to take part in Production & Packing segments of audits.
  • Ability to manage priorities and projects across your area / line.
  • A personal commitment to role model behaviours and to setting the standard.
  • A working understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Numeracy and literacy skills
