Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Quality Advisor to support energy, steel, and coatings projects across UK sites with frequent travel to Edinburgh.

You will champion quality initiatives, establish best practices with the Quality function, and ensure staff awareness of duties. The role requires experience in steel/coatings quality and relevant audits, with strong MS Office and QA system knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Experience within a Quality control role, ideally in steel and coatings.
  • Icorr or Mace would be advantageous.
  • Relevant Quality Membership (CQI) would be beneficial along with ISO9001:2015 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification.
  • MS package knowledge (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project).
  • Solid understanding of ISO 9001 and BS EN 1090.

Responsibilities

  • Be a champion for the “Quality – Right First Time” initiative.
  • Establish and promote best practice in quality matters in conjunction with the Quality function.
  • Ensure that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as required.
  • Support site management teams to ensure compliance with Quality Plans.
  • Carry out regular inspections/audits of sites and workplaces to ensure compliance with Company Policy and procedures.
  • Review internal and supply chain partner Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Promote reporting of nonconformances and manage closing actions.
  • Collate and review Quality statistics for reporting.
  • Develop and implement Quality campaigns and improvement plans with the Quality Management.
  • Provide support to Project teams in developing Quality Plans.
  • Produce Quality plans, procedures and documentation and check compliance.

Murphy is recruiting for a Quality Advisorto work with Energy - Steel Work and Coatings, can be based in any Murphy site across the UK but must be happy to travel to required to travel to Edinburgh frequently.

A day in the life of a Murphy Quality Advisor

  • Be a champion for the “Quality – Right First Time” initiative.
  • Establish and promote best practice in quality matters in conjunction with the Quality function.
  • Ensure that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as and when required.
  • Support site management teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the Quality Plans.
  • Carry out regular inspections/audits of sites and work places to find whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures and other stated requirements.
  • Review of internal and supply chain partner Inspection and Test Plans
  • Promote the reporting of nonconformances and manage, provide advice on closing out actions.
  • Collate and review Business / Contract Quality statistics in a timely manner and submit to the Quality Management and Quality function for reporting purposes.
  • Review Quality statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement Quality campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the Quality Management.
  • Provide support to Project teams in the development of Quality Plans.
  • Produce Quality plans, procedures and associated documentation and check compliance.

  • Solid understanding of the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard and the BS EN 1090
  • Chartered Quality Professional – Member (CQP MCQI) advantageous
  • Previous experience within an Engineering or Construction environment
