Job summary

Protocol Education are seeking a qualified Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Newcastle. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with diverse needs, helping them access learning and participate in school life.

The role involves working alongside teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver personalised programmes and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment. With Level 2/3 TA qualifications and previous SEND or school experience, you will bring

Qualifications

• Level 2/Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualifications or equivalent are required.
• Previous experience in a school, specialist setting or education environment is preferred.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Patient, calm and compassionate approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support.

Protocol Education are looking for qualified and experienced Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEND school in Newcastle.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated TA who enjoys working with pupils with additional needs and wants to make a genuine difference to their learning, development and wellbeing.

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to provide personalised support to pupils, helping them feel safe, confident and able to engage in school life.

The Role

You may be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

• Autism and ASC
• Complex and profound learning needs
• SEMH and behavioural needs
• Communication and interaction difficulties
• Sensory needs
• Physical and medical needs
• EHCP-related support requirements
• 1:1 and small-group learning

Your responsibilities could include:

We're Looking For

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent relevant experience
• Previous experience working in a school, specialist setting or education environment
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• A patient, calm and compassionate approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Confidence supporting pupils with complex or additional needs
• A willingness to learn and develop your SEND knowledge
• A genuine commitment to helping every pupil reach their potential
