Job summary

GSL Education is actively recruiting Qualified Teaching Assistants to work across partner schools in Gateshead. We seek experienced, enthusiastic staff passionate about supporting children’s learning.

Candidates must hold a Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification or equivalent, with prior school experience and the ability to provide both 1:1 and small-group support. Strong communication and safeguarding knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold a recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent.
• Experience working with children within a school or educational setting.
• Confident providing both 1:1 and small-group support.
• Strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH or challenging behaviour would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with delivery of engaging learning activities.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Support pupils across the curriculum, including literacy and numeracy.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
• Deliver targeted interventions where required.
• Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
• Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
• Maintain a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
