Job summary

Randstad Education in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, seeks a reliable teaching professional to deliver vital, trauma-informed instruction at a specialist school for pupils with behavioural challenges and complex medical needs. This temp-to-perm role follows a 12-week probation and offers progression within the Main Pay Scale.

You must hold QTS with substantial SEN experience, be emotionally resilient, have access to transport, and complete an enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

  • QTS with substantial SEN background.
  • 6 months minimum experience managing severe SEMH and complex behaviours.
  • Emotionally resilient professional with a focused, composed temperament.
  • Access to own transport for commuting.
  • Successful applicants must complete a comprehensive enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, trauma-informed emotional and educational support, leading classroom activities and managing a small support team.
  • Confidently de-escalate high-pressure situations and manage challenging behaviours with empathy and professional boundaries.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to maintain a secure, predictable, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Assess, record, and promote student development and learning milestones.
  • Deliver high-quality inclusive education as a superior practitioner.
  • Apply relational strategies and trauma-informed behavioural support.
  • Maintain an analytical approach to student data and reflective professional practice.
  • Demonstrate dedication to student welfare, safeguarding, and achieving positive outcomes.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable professional to provide vital, impactful instruction at a specialist school in Burgess Hill, Sussex. This temp-to-perm role presents a rewarding opportunity to serve as a steady, supportive mentor for pupils facing behavioural challenges and complex medical needs.

(Salary: As per the Main Pay Scale (MPS) - This is a temporary to permanent role after a 12 week probation period)

We operate a strict no-sponsorship policy; all applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK.

Working Hours: Monday-Thursday (08:30-15:30) and Friday (08:30-15:00).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent, trauma-informed emotional and educational support, leading classroom activities and managing a small support team.

You Must Have

  • Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) with substantial background in SEN settings.

  • Outstanding level of maturity and significant emotional resilience.
  • Access to own transport for commuting.
  • Successful applicants must complete a comprehensive enhanced DBS check.
