Job summary

The London Borough of Bexley invites applications for a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join the Hearing Advice and Support Team (HAST). You will assess needs, provide specialist teaching, and work with families, schools and multi-agency partners to secure effective support for deaf children and young people from birth to 25.

You will advise on audiological equipment, contribute to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and Annual Reviews, and supervise two Hearing Support Specialist

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher of the Deaf with current UK registration.
• Experience supporting deaf children and young people.
• Ability to work collaboratively with families, schools and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, advice, teaching and support for deaf children and young people.
• Advise on the use and management of audiological equipment (hearing aids, cochlear implants, radio aid).
• Contribute to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and Annual Reviews; work with multi-agency professionals.
