Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment in Greater London is seeking a Teacher or HLTA to join our SEND Department, providing support to pupils with hearing impairment. You will use British Sign Language (BSL), spoken language, and assistive listening technology to enable learning access.

The role involves delivering planned interventions, working with families and external professionals, monitoring progress and leading activities as an HLTA.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent experience is essential.
• BSL qualification at Level 2 or above is desirable.
• Experience with SEND and primary/specialist settings is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Commitment to inclusion and high expectations for pupils is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with hearing impairment across the curriculum.
• Use BSL to facilitate communication and learning access.
• Deliver planned interventions for individuals and small groups.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND team, families and external professionals.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessment records.
• Promote independence, confidence, and social interaction.
• Lead learning activities and cover classes as HLTA.
• Support development of communication and language skills.
