We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker to join a dedicated Long Term Safeguarding team. In this role, you will work with children and families to assess needs and intervene early to provide support, making a positive difference in their lives.

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, you will support the delivery of person-centred, safe, and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience, you will make assessments and decisions about appropriate interventions. Strong communication skills and social work expertise are essential to establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies, ensuring services meet identified needs.

You will be committed to achieving positive and sustainable outcomes for children, striving to provide the best possible support and protection for the most vulnerable. Your focus will be on supporting children and their families to thrive and flourish, while ensuring efficiency in service delivery.

Ideal candidate will be:

  • Registered with Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
  • Experienced in working with children and families, including vulnerable groups.
  • Creative, flexible, and forward-thinking in approach.
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and child protection issues.
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • Skilled in mediation and negotiation on behalf of service users.
  • Experienced in building meaningful relationships with children and families to facilitate assessments and plans.
  • Committed to providing high-quality services.
  • Experienced in working within multi-disciplinary, interagency teams.
  • Having 4+ years of qualified experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist the Team Leader in the daily operations of the Leaving Care and Child Asylum Team, managing complex cases.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the service as part of the management group, including input into the statutory Strategic Plan.
  • Develop service leads within the Leaving Care Team to meet the needs of service users and stakeholders.
  • Engage and monitor staff and direct reports, supporting their development through reflective supervision, coaching, and mentoring. Identify training needs to meet service objectives and ensure positive outcomes for young people.
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies to develop and deliver services for service users.
  • Manage and develop supervisees, ensuring the service remains 'inspection ready' at all times and safeguarding children and young people effectively.
