Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting qualified Secondary Teaching Assistants to work across a range of Birmingham secondary schools. We seek enthusiastic, committed individuals who are passionate about helping young people reach their potential.

Role includes supporting learning across the curriculum, one-to-one and small-group work, and assisting with lesson preparation while maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified teaching assistant with appropriate safeguarding training.
• Experience supporting learners in a secondary school environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication with students, staff and parents.
• Patient, supportive approach and ability to work in a school team.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Support students with learning and development across the secondary curriculum.

The Role

• Supporting students with their learning and development across the secondary curriculum.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
• Working with students who have additional learning needs and/or SEND.
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
• Supporting classroom management and student behaviour.
• Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
• Monitoring and reporting on student progress where appropriate.
• Building positive and professional relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.

About You

• A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant equivalent experience.
• Experience working within a secondary school setting.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, supportive and positive approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• A commitment to promoting positive behaviour and inclusion.
• Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs would be highly advantageous.
