Job summary

Cygnet Newton House offers inpatient rehabilitation and community rehabilitation services for men, with a focus on long-term recovery. The psychologist will carry out assessments and provide individual and group therapy, working within a multidisciplinary team to support risk management and clinical decision-making.

The role requires experience in adult mental health, knowledge of legislation and risk assessment, and familiarity with complex therapies such as Schema-focused and DBT.

Qualifications

• Qualified Psychologist with experience in adult mental health.
• Experience in multidisciplinary team working.
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with families and agencies.
• Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management principles.
• Experience with complex therapies such as Schema therapy and DBT.

Responsibilities

• Carry out psychological assessments and provide therapy to individuals and groups.
• Work systemically with staff and directly with service users.
• Consult with staff, families and other agencies about psychological care.
• Offer psychological insight to the multidisciplinary team.
• Support the clinical, nursing and direct care teams in making skilled evaluations and decisions about risk.
• Evaluate the service and contribute to its development and carry out clinical research.
