Overall Job Role
- To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years.
- To support the Room Leader with the effective day-to-day running of the room.
- To ensure the room, resources and environment are safe, stimulating and appropriate for children, staff and visitors.
- To develop positive partnerships with parents/carers to support children's learning and development.
- To act as a Key Person, observing, assessing and planning for individual children in line with the EYFS.
Duties
- To support the Room Leader in the effective daily operation of the room.
- To have a sound knowledge of nursery policies, procedures and expectations.
- To act as a positive role model for children and colleagues, demonstrating high-quality practice at all times.
- To maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety, and security throughout the nursery.
- To plan, deliver and evaluate activities that support children's learning and development in line with the EYFS.
- To complete accurate observations, assessments and planning for key children, ensuring they make good progress.
- To maintain children's learning journals and developmental records.
- To build warm, professional relationships with parents and carers, sharing information regarding children's development and wellbeing.
- To support children with additional needs and work alongside external professionals where required.
- To uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
- To promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the setting.
- To contribute to team meetings, training and continuous professional development.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency of practice across the nursery.
- To undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by management.
Qualifications (Essential)
- Full and relevant Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification.
- Good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- GCSE English and Maths Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
Relevant Experience and Skills (Essential)
- Experience of working in an early years setting.
- Experience of being a Key Person.
- Good understanding of child development from birth to five years.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and welfare requirements.
- Experience of observation, assessment and planning.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
