A hands-on QHSE role with real operational impact

Are you an experienced QHSE professional who enjoys getting out on site, working closely with operational teams and making a genuine difference to workplace safety and quality?

We’re recruiting for a growing technical and manufacturing-focused business seeking a proactive QHSE Engineer to strengthen its Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards across multiple locations.

This is a varied, hands-on position offering the opportunity to combine your quality management experience with practical Health & Safety expertise. Working closely with senior QHSE leadership, you’ll support manufacturing, warehousing and wider business functions to ensure compliance, improve working practices and build a positive safety culture.

This role would suit someone who is confident working on the shop floor as well as engaging with managers, suppliers, customers and senior stakeholders.

The role

You’ll play a key part in maintaining and improving QHSE performance across the business, with a particular emphasis on practical Health & Safety support.

Health & Safety

  • Provide clear, practical H&S advice and guidance to managers and employees.

  • Complete and review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and awareness sessions.

  • Carry out workplace inspections, identify hazards and follow up on remedial actions.

  • Support the development of a proactive safety culture, constructively challenging unsafe practices where necessary.

  • Monitor compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and internal procedures.

Quality & Management Systems

  • Support the maintenance and continual improvement of quality and environmental management systems.

  • Conduct internal audits and support supplier, customer and external certification audits.

  • Manage non-conformances, root-cause investigations and corrective and preventative actions.

  • Monitor QHSE performance, prepare KPI reports and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, procedures and controlled records.

  • Support supplier quality, supplier evaluations and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Assist with product compliance requirements and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

  • Contribute to environmental compliance and wider continuous improvement activities.

About you

We’re looking for a practical, credible QHSE professional who can combine sound technical knowledge with the confidence to influence people at all levels.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A recognised Health & Safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.

  • Practical Health & Safety experience within manufacturing, engineering, electronics, warehousing, distribution or a similar operational environment.

  • Experience completing risk assessments and investigating incidents and near misses.

  • A strong understanding of corrective and preventative action processes and root-cause analysis.

  • Confidence delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and guidance to operational teams.

  • Experience conducting internal audits and/or supplier audits.

  • Experience supporting quality and/or environmental management systems.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage with people at all levels.

  • A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.

  • A willingness to travel regularly between sites as required.

Experience with recognised management system standards, including ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001, would be beneficial. Exposure to ISO 13485, IATF 16949, 8D problem‑solving, supplier quality, customer audits or product regulatory compliance would also be advantageous.

What’s on offer?

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.

  • A varied role spanning Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management.

  • The opportunity to influence operational standards and improve workplace safety.

  • Exposure to multiple sites, teams and business functions.

  • The opportunity to work closely with senior QHSE leadership.

  • A role where your expertise can make a visible and lasting difference.
