Job summary

RHA Recruitment is partnering with a UK manufacturing business to recruit an experienced QHSE Manager. The role leads Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, ISO standards alignment and business objectives execution.

You will drive continual improvement, develop systems to protect employees, customers and the environment, and embed a culture of operational excellence and zero-harm across the site.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health and safety qualification.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Proven experience managing audits, investigations and compliance programmes.
• Demonstrable success in driving measurable improvements in quality, safety and environmental performance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with strong analytical, problem-solving and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across QHSE activities, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with business objectives.
• Develop and implement the QHSE strategy and drive continual improvement across the organisation.
• Lead audits, investigations and corrective actions and coordinate with external auditors and regulators.
• Promote a Right First Time culture and embed QHSE into daily operations.
• Foster leadership and mentorship within the QHSE team and partner with operations, engineering and production.

Operating within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, our client is recognised for delivering high-quality products and services to major construction and infrastructure customers across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven QHSE professional to take ownership of the organisation's management systems, lead strategic improvement initiatives, and help embed a culture focused on operational excellence and zero-harm principles.

The Role

The QHSE Manager will provide leadership across all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards and business objectives.

Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you will drive continual improvement, support best practice, and develop systems that protect employees, customers and the wider environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

• Develop and implement the company's QHSE strategy in line with legislative requirements and business objectives.
• Provide regular performance reports and recommendations to senior management and act as the primary contact for external auditors, regulatory authorities, customers and accreditation bodies.
• Lead organisational initiatives focused on improving quality, safety and environmental performance.

Compliance & Management Systems

• Maintain and continually improve ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and implement necessary updates across the business, whilst managing internal and external audit programmes, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions.

Quality Management

• Promote a "Right First Time" culture throughout the organisation.
• Drive root cause analysis and resolution of quality issues, monitor quality performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement and work closely with operational teams to reduce defects, waste and rework.

Health & Safety

• Lead the company's health and safety programme and risk management framework.
• Conduct and oversee incident investigations, identifying lessons learned and implementing improvements whislt supporting managers in carrying out risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Environmental Management

• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and licences.
• Lead sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives.
• Support waste reduction, energy efficiency and resource management programmes.

Leadership & Culture

• Develop and mentor QHSE team members to achieve high performance standards.
• Partner with operational, engineering and production teams to embed QHSE principles into day-to-day activities.
• Deliver training, coaching and awareness initiatives across the business.
• Foster a culture where quality, safety and environmental responsibility are core business values.

Skills & Experience

Essential
