Reed Specialist Recruitment seeks an experienced Quality, Environmental & Health & Safety Manager to lead QHSE across a manufacturing operation. You will own the Integrated Management System, drive ISO 9001/14001 compliance, report metrics, and lead investigations into incidents and non-conformances.

You will collaborate with the Operations Director and leadership team to reduce risk, promote best practices, and shape a culture where quality and safety are central to all activities.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in QHSE leadership within manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards and external audits.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification required.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop the site IMS, ensuring ongoing ISO compliance and best practice.
  • Lead internal and external audits and drive QHSE performance reporting.
  • Develop risk assessments and implement effective corrective actions across the site.
  • Foster a positive safety culture through training and engagement initiatives.
  • Liaise with regulators and certification bodies and report to the leadership team.

Job description

Are you an experienced QHSE professional looking to make a real impact within a growing manufacturing business?

We are seeking a Quality, Environmental & Health & Safety Manager to lead and develop all aspects of Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety performance across our manufacturing operation. This is a key leadership role, responsible for maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring a culture where quality and safety are at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

Working closely with the Operations Director and wider leadership team, you will take ownership of the site's Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring continued compliance with ISO standards while promoting best practice across the business. You will play a pivotal role in supporting operational excellence, reducing risk, and driving sustainable improvements throughout the manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain the site's Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Lead ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 compliance activities and external audits.
  • Develop, monitor and report on QHSE performance metrics.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, non-conformances and root cause analysis activities.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions across the business.
  • Support and develop a positive safety culture through training and engagement initiatives.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, certification auditors and external stakeholders.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and maintain relevant environmental accreditations.
  • Provide regular QHSE reporting to the leadership team.
About You
  • Previous QHSE experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Experience leading external audits and maintaining accreditations.
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety legislation and risk management.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
