Job summary

Riverlane is seeking a PhD intern to explore quantum error correction through simulations and architecture studies. You will frame and run QEC experiments, study decoding methods, and model classical resources within fault-tolerant quantum programs.

Work alongside Riverlane’s scientists in Cambridge, MA, with a supervisor guiding your project. You will help push the boundaries of QEC research, develop reproducible code, and present findings through technical discussions and reports.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a PhD in a technical field (Physics, Math, CS, CE, EE or related).
• Experience running quantum circuits on hardware or in simulations.
• Experience with decoding algorithms or quantum error-correcting codes.
• Proficiency in Python, C, or C++.
• Strong understanding of computer systems and architecture.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
• Eligibility to work in the United States for the internship duration.
• Willingness to collaborate with researchers across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms, simulations or architectural models to evaluate approaches.
• Reduce compute, communication, memory, latency or power in QEC contexts.
• Explore trade-offs between decoding performance and resources.
• Collaborate with quantum scientists and engineers across theory, software and hardware.
• Analyse results and communicate findings through reports and discussions.
• Produce reproducible research code and documentation.
