This position reports to

Service Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to represent ABB as a Home Based, Field Service Engineer within an approximately 1-hour radius of Newcastle upon Tyne, on customer paper manufacturing facilities. As part of the Northern Service Team, you will help to provide 24/7 support on-site for ABB QCS and DCS equipment. After initial ABB product training, you will be responsible for delivering the Service Agreement scope; activities include preventative and corrective maintenance on ABB QCS/DCS equipment, configuration, calibration, modification, cleaning, and adjustment. Participating in a 1-week in 3 on-call rota, you will work to develop strong relationships with customers across production and engineering.

The work model for the role is: remote

This role contributes to the Process Industries division in the UK.

You will be mainly accountable for:

1. Providing high-level field and in-house technical support, including out-of-hours support.
2. Providing application support and software troubleshooting to customers, on-site and remotely.
3. Advising clients on maintenance procedures, evolution, site planning, operational methods, process measurement, and control.
4. Preparing and writing technical reports for internal and external use.
5. Promoting sales of maintenance services and equipment, including spare parts, and advising the Sales department of possible sales leads.
6. Assisting Sales and Account Management with the preparation of quotations.
7. Commissioning equipment in the field as part of the project team.
8. Preparing and presenting reports following site visits, including a monthly report for allocated sites.

Qualifications for the role

• Degree or HND in Electrical or Measurement & Control Engineering.
• Clean Driving Licence (UK).
• Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.
• Demonstrate excellent customer focus.
• Good networking skills.
• Results-oriented.
• Knowledge of Paper Industry - desirable.
• Knowledge of ABB QCS or DCS systems - desirable.
• Commercial awareness - desirable.
