QCS/DCS Field Service Engineer - Newcastle upon Tyne 1 hour radius

This position reports to

Service Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to represent ABB as a Home Based, Field Service Engineer within an approx 1 hour radius to Newcastle upon Tyne, on customer paper manufacturing facilities. As part of the Northern Service Team, you will help to provide 24/7 support on site for ABB QCS and DCS equipment. After initial ABB product training, you will be responsible to deliver the Service Agreement to scope; activities include Preventative and Corrective maintenance on ABB QCS/DCS equipment, configuration, calibration, modification, cleaning, and adjustment. Participating in a 1 week in 3 on-call rota, you will work to develop a strong working relationship with customers across production and engineering. The work model for the role is: {remote} #LI-remote. This role is contributing to the {Process Industries division} in {the UK}. You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Provide high-level field and in-house technical support, including out of hours support.
  2. Provide application support and software troubleshooting to customers, on site and by remote dial in.
  3. Advise clients as to maintenance procedures, evolution, site planning, operational methods, process measurement, and control.
  4. Prepare and write technical reports for internal and external use.
  5. Promote sales of maintenance services and equipment, including spare parts, and advise Sales department of possible sales leads.
  6. Assist Sales and Account management with preparation of quotations.
  7. Commission equipment in the field as part of the project team.
  8. Prepare and present reports following site visits and in addition a monthly report for allocated sites.

Qualifications for the role

  • Degree or HND in Electrical or Measurement & Control Engineering.
  • Clean Driving Licence (UK).
  • Self-Motivated and able to work unsupervised.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer focus.
  • Good networking skills.
  • Results orientation.
  • Knowledge of Paper Industry - desirable.
  • Knowledge of ABB QCS or DCS systems - desirable.
  • Commercial awareness - desirable.
