Job summary

Genomics England is seeking an experienced QA Engineer to own automation using Java, Selenium and RestAssured in a cross-functional Agile squad. You will champion shift-left quality and build evolving automated testing frameworks to improve coverage, automation and delivery confidence across the SDLC.

Collaborating with Product Managers, Software Engineers, SMEs and fellow QA Engineers, you will help advance CI/CD pipelines and quality practices across Genomics England’s products and services.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Java-based test automation using Selenium and RestAssured.
• Experience automating UI and API testing with Java-based frameworks.
• Good understanding of SDLC, Agile, and quality engineering principles.
• Experience creating test cases in Gherkin (Given/When/Then) format and ensuring traceability.

Responsibilities

• Promote and follow Genomics England's testing standards, processes, and best practices.
• Design, build, maintain, and execute automated test frameworks using Java, Selenium, and RestAssured.
• Contribute to quality engineering practices across the full SDLC for product and service assurance.
• Improve unit, integration, API, and end-to-end test coverage with engineers.
• Drive shift-left testing and ensure quality from early development stages.
• Support CI/CD implementation and test automation execution within deployment pipelines.
