Job summary

Xcede Limited is seeking a Python Engineer to join a UK public sector transformation programme. You will help establish a secure, scalable Python package management capability for development teams, integrating with CI/CD and platform services. Expect predominantly remote work with travel to London/Manchester as needed.

The role requires strong Python skills, experience in package management and enterprise repositories, plus Active SC Clearance. Start targets late Sep/Oct 2026.

Qualifications

• Strong Python engineering background.
• Strong understanding of Python package and dependency management, including pip, PyPI and/or Conda.
• Hands-on experience with Artifactory or a similar artefact/package management platform.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and platform engineering.
• Experience working across Windows and/or Linux environments.
• Active SC Clearance is essential.
• Experience building developer platforms or golden paths; knowledge of software supply-chain security.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain secure Python package and dependency management solutions.
• Implement curated package repositories and controlled publishing workflows.
• Work with pip, PyPI, Conda and enterprise artefact repositories.
• Integrate package management with CI/CD pipelines and wider platform services.
• Develop reusable templates and automated/self-service capabilities for developers.
• Help establish secure and reproducible development environments.
• Troubleshoot developer and platform issues, reducing reliance on manual workarounds.
• Support appropriate software supply-chain security controls.
• Work closely with development teams and pilot users to understand requirements and improve the platform.
• Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer.
