Purchasing Manager - Milton Keynes

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30am to 4:30pm, Friday 07:30am to 3:30pm

Reports To: Operations Director

Salary: Competitive + Bonus

Job Overview

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the purchasing strategy across multiple sites. Your duties include managing stock systems, coordinating locations and consumption, forecasting requirements, and optimizing purchasing for price and volume efficiency.

You will work within a small team alongside the Purchasing Coordinator to process and log orders promptly using Smartsheet. Responsibilities also include managing inventory, analyzing usage trends, and adjusting procurement strategies accordingly. Building and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement is essential. Your tasks will include:

  1. Communicating with the Operations Director and obtaining approval for new vendor contracts and supplies.
  2. Collaborating with Project Managers and Production teams to keep them informed of procurement progress.
  3. Establishing supplier benchmarking systems and negotiating best prices and terms while maintaining strong relationships.
  4. Conducting regular meetings with suppliers, maintaining performance logs, reviewing service levels, and resolving issues promptly. Regular updates on supplier performance will be provided to the leadership team.
  5. Networking to identify new opportunities for better deals.
