Job Description

We are seeking an organized and efficient Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our finance team in Crewe, United Kingdom. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the purchase ledger function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

  • Process and code supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and process payment runs
  • Maintain and update the purchase ledger system
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures
  • Respond to supplier inquiries and maintain good relationships
  • Support the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks and reports
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT returns
  • Contribute to process improvements within the purchase ledger function
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong data entry and typing skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 1-2 years of experience in purchase ledger or accounts payable
  • Experience working in a corporate environment
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Knowledge of VAT regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in financial matters
