Job summary

Hillside Primary School in Ipswich is seeking a compassionate Pupil Wellbeing Officer to support children whose wellbeing, attendance or personal circumstances affect learning. Based at Hillside Primary School, the role combines direct pupil support with partnership work with families, staff and external agencies.

You will lead targeted wellbeing interventions, contribute to safeguarding practice and help ensure every child feels safe, supported and ready to succeed.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting pupil wellbeing and safeguarding processes.
• Ability to develop and monitor pupil support plans with families and staff.
• Strong communication and partnership working with external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted wellbeing support for pupils facing social, emotional, behavioural or attendance challenges.
• Work with families, staff and external agencies to implement support plans.
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and assist safeguarding referrals and records.
• Monitor and improve pupil attendance, including work with persistently absent pupils.
• Maintain wellbeing and safeguarding records and provide guidance and training as required.

Contract: Full Time, Fixed-term
Working Pattern: 37 hours, Term time plus (39 weeks)
Salary: ALT Grade G £27,441.48 - £30,459.14 Annually Actual

We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Pupil Wellbeing Officer to play a central role in supporting children whose wellbeing, attendance or personal circumstances may be affecting their learning. Based at Hillside Primary School, a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Ipswich, this position combines direct support for pupils with close partnership working alongside families, staff and external agencies to remove barriers and create positive outcomes. As a key member of the school community, the successful candidate will lead targeted wellbeing interventions, contribute to safeguarding practice and help ensure every child feels safe, supported and ready to succeed.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

• Provide targeted wellbeing support and interventions for pupils experiencing social, emotional, behavioural or attendance challenges.
• Work closely with families, staff and external agencies to develop and implement effective support plans.
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting safeguarding processes, referrals and record keeping.
• Lead the monitoring, reporting and improvement of pupil attendance, including work with persistently absent pupils.
• Maintain accurate wellbeing and safeguarding records and provide advice, guidance and training where required.
