Job summary

Teacheroo in Edinburgh is seeking a dedicated Pupil Support Assistant to provide personalised, holistic support to pupils with diverse needs across the Junior School. You will work with teachers to enable learning, promote independence and wellbeing, and be involved in learning and daily activities beyond the classroom.

Ideally you are nurturing, responsive, and capable of building positive relationships with children.

Qualifications

• Calm, empathetic, patient and approachable manner.
• Commitment to children's rights, inclusion, safeguarding, confidentiality.
• Experience supporting children with additional social, emotional, behavioural, learning or physical needs.
• Initiative, resilience, flexibility and adaptability.
• Appropriate literacy and communication skills to support pupils, including scribing when required.
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and listening skills.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage time and changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support high-quality learning and teaching by recognising and responding to individual needs.
• Work with teaching staff to ensure pupils with additional support needs access the curriculum and develop independence.
• Prepare and adapt learning resources, technology and equipment.
• Explain or reinforce instructions and key learning points.
• Support pupils with personal care, medical needs and dignity.
• Promote wellbeing, behaviour and positive relationships.
• Contribute to individual pupil plans, records of progress and risk assessments.
