Job summary

Aberdeenshire Council is seeking a part-time support assistant to assist teachers in promoting achievement and raising pupil attainment. The role covers P1–S6 and requires flexibility in school locations within the cluster.

The post operates Wednesdays and Thursdays 09:30-15:00 on a fixed-term basis until 25 March 2027, with an expected interview date of 8 October 2026. Informal enquiries to Joanne Brown and references from previous employers are required.

Qualifications

• This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
• PVG Scheme check or update required. Overseas Criminal Record Check possible for UK absence in last 5 years.
• Minimum one reference from current or most recent employer.

Assist teachers in promoting achievement and raising the standards of pupil attainment and provide general support in relation to the needs of the class and individuals' care, health and wellbeing and safety; to ensure a secure and safe environment.

There is a requirement to be flexible in school location within the cluster, according to individual circumstances and work with a range of pupils from P1 - S6.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

The working pattern for this post will be Wednesday and Thursday 09:30-15:00.

Requirements
