Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a Welfare / Medical Officer for a temporary full-time contract in Harrow. You will support the health and wellbeing of pupils, providing first aid, administering medicines and maintaining records throughout the school day.

The role requires strong communication, organisational skills and a calm, approachable manner, with experience in school or welfare settings being desirable. DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• First Aid qualification is essential.
• Good safeguarding and child welfare understanding.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Calm, caring and approachable manner.
• Experience in school, healthcare, childcare or welfare settings desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and basic medical care to pupils and staff.
• Respond to illnesses, injuries and medical needs.
• Administer medication per school policies.
• Maintain medical and welfare records.
• Liaise with parents/carers about pupil health.
• Support pupils with ongoing medical conditions and healthcare plans.
• Monitor first aid supplies and health resources.
• Promote health, hygiene and wellbeing across the school.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCO and pastoral team.
• Respond calmly to medical emergencies.
