Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is assisting a welcoming primary school in Harrow to appoint a Welfare / Medical Officer on a temporary contract from November through to April. The role focuses on health, wellbeing and welfare of pupils, providing care throughout the school day.

Key duties include first aid, attending illnesses, administering medications, maintaining records, and liaison with parents. The ideal candidate will have a First Aid qualification and a good safeguarding understanding.

Qualifications

• First Aid qualification is essential.
• Enhanced DBS via Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience in school, healthcare, childcare or welfare desirable.
• Good safeguarding understanding and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and basic medical care to pupils and staff when required
• Respond to pupil illnesses, injuries and medical needs
• Administer medication in line with school policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate medical and welfare records
• Liaise with parents/carers regarding pupil health and wellbeing
• Support pupils with ongoing medical conditions and individual healthcare plans
• Monitor and maintain first aid and medical supplies
• Promote good health, hygiene and wellbeing across the school
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider pastoral team
• Respond calmly and appropriately to medical emergencies
