Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid to pupils, staff and visitors, including medical emergencies.
  • Manage the welfare room and support sick, injured or distressed pupils.
  • Record accidents and medical incidents using Medical Tracker.
  • Maintain medical records, care plans and consent documentation.
  • Manage pupil medication, inhalers, EpiPens and expiry dates.
  • Liaise with parents, healthcare professionals and school staff.
  • Coordinate immunisations, vaccinations and health checks.
  • Maintain first-aid supplies, equipment and school first-aid kits.
  • Prepare medical information and resources for school trips.
  • Report safeguarding concerns in line with school procedures.
  • Support the school office and reception team when required.

Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Welfare Assistant or in a similar medical, pastoral or school-based role
  • A current Paediatric First Aid Training and Certificate
  • A caring, empathetic and approachable manner
  • Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to remain calm when dealing with illness, injury or emergencies
  • A strong understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
