Job summary

Highfield Littleport Academy, part of the Active Learning Trust, is seeking a Student Support Assistant to provide personal care, medical support and practical assistance for pupils with complex needs. The role involves working closely with teachers to support safety, inclusion and wellbeing across a 39-week year.

The post is 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a 4-hour daily pattern. Candidates should demonstrate warmth, resilience and commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• Provide personal care and medical support in line with EHCPs and Personal Care Plans.
• Support pupils' safety, wellbeing and inclusion throughout the school day.
• Assist with specialist care programmes such as physiotherapy or hydrotherapy under professional guidance.
• Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality procedures.
• Work closely with teachers and colleagues to ensure high-quality care and support for pupils.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils' safety, wellbeing and inclusion throughout the school day, including lunchtimes and outdoor supervision
• Assist with specialist care programmes, such as physiotherapy or hydrotherapy, under professional guidance
• Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality procedures
• Work closely with teachers and colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality care and support for pupils
