Job summary

Marchant Recruitment seeks a proactive School Attendance Officer for a busy secondary school in Hounslow. You will monitor attendance and punctuality, drive interventions, and maintain accurate records across MIS systems, working with parents and safeguarding teams to support vulnerable students.

The role is full-time, term-time only, with 8:00 AM–4:00 PM hours and start ASAP/next term. Experience in education attendance and strong data skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school attendance, welfare, or administrative role within an educational setting.
• Proficiency with school MIS such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with empathy, firmness and tact.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to analyse data to spot trends.
• Knowledge of statutory school attendance frameworks and safeguarding procedures.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to complete one).

Responsibilities

• Attendance Tracking: Monitor and record daily registers, identify unauthorised absences, trends and persistent absenteeism.
• Parental Engagement: Contact parents daily regarding unexplained absences and conduct follow-up communications.
• Reporting & Compliance: Maintain records in the MIS and produce attendance statistics for SLT and Local Authority.
• Intervention & Support: Work with Heads of Year and EWOs to create action plans for vulnerable students.
• Home Visits: Conduct occasional visits in line with safeguarding policies.
