Job summary

Winsearch is recruiting an experienced Punch Press Operator in Ashton-under-Lyne to join the production team. You will set up and operate CNC punching machinery, loading tooling and reading engineering drawings to ensure on-spec output.

The role offers a continental day shift (4 on/4 off), 37 hours per week, and a pay range of £16.43–£17.10 per hour with a 20% shift premium. Experience with Trumpf or Salvagnini machines is advantageous, along with a commitment to quality and safety.

Winsearch is working with a well-established manufacturer in Ashton-under-Lyne to recruit an experienced Punch Press Operator for their production team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with CNC punch press experience who is looking for a stable, long-term role with a company that continues to invest in its people, equipment, and manufacturing capabilities.

The Role

You'll be responsible for setting up and operating CNC punching machinery, ensuring production is completed efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.

• Setting and operating CNC punch press machines
• Loading, changing, and adjusting tooling
• Working from engineering drawings and production paperwork
• Monitoring machine performance and output quality
• Carrying out routine machine checks and basic troubleshooting
• Recording production and quality information accurately
• Maintaining a safe and organised work area
• Following company health, safety, and quality procedures

Candidates with experience operating Trumpf or Salvagnini machinery will be particularly of interest.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience operating CNC punch press equipment
• A background in sheet metal or manufacturing environments
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
• A strong awareness of health and safety requirements
• Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team

Advantageous Experience

• Trumpf and/or Salvagnini machine experience
• CNC programming and machine set-up knowledge
• FLT or overhead crane licences
• Exposure to lean manufacturing techniques
