Job summary

United Drains is seeking an experienced Pump Engineer to service, repair and install wastewater pumping systems across London and surrounding areas. You will work with pump chambers, control panels and 3-phase equipment, often in confined spaces, delivering high‑quality service to commercial clients.

You will perform fault diagnosis, compile detailed reports with photos, and maintain strict safety and electrical compliance. A DBS check and a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience working with wastewater pumps and control panels.
• Competent with 3-phase electrical systems and control panels.
• 17th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (required).
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, delivering outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

Job description

The role involves servicing, repairing, and installing a wide range of pumped drainage systems. You'll be working with wastewater systems, pump chambers, control panels, and more, supporting commercial clients and working closely with our in-house service team.

• Service and repair wastewater pumping systems, packaged pump sets, macerators, and associated equipment
• Install new pump chambers and systems
• Work with grey water and effluent systems, often in confined spaces
• Carry out fault diagnosis and provide detailed reports with photos using PDA/mobile device
• Work confidently on 3-phase systems and control panels
• Ensure compliance with electrical regulations and site safety
• Communicate clearly with clients and colleagues to ensure smooth service delivery
