The Bartlett are looking to appoint a Publishing Manager ( FTE) to develop and execute strategic publications and communications to build awareness and reputation of The Bartlett. They will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager, The Bartlett School of Architecture’s Director of Communications and external graphic design agencies and editors to develop and produce key publications for one of the world’s leading architecture schools, The Bartlett School of Architecture, including a suite of printed books showcasing the work of the school. The post-holder will lead on the development, delivery and project management of both digital and print publications, taking responsibility for upholding a culture of professional, high-quality publishing, design and editorial style. They will oversee sales, inventory and distribution of publications, and play a key role in governing the school’s visual brand. The role also involves promoting effective communication to academic and administrative staff, curating and championing student content, and leading on select external-facing communications and events. The role also plays a key part in supporting broader communications activity for The Bartlett School of Architecture, as well as other Bartlett departments, throughout the year. This will include managing websites and delivering communications to internal and external audiences.
About you
The successful candidate will have a background in publishing and/or communications, with experience in developing and delivering editorial services to support the production of highly illustrated digital and print projects. They will have experience of designing and typesetting printed publications using specialist software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. This will sit alongside strong communications skills and the ability to interpret data on the reach and impact of publications and communications to support strategy and planning. They will have strong organisational skills with experience of project planning and delivery across the entire publication process, a track record of meeting deadlines and targets, and be comfortable working under minimal supervision. They should be proactively committed to providing high levels of service with excellent written and oral communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. While this role requires experience with design software such as InDesign for document handling and layout adjustments, it is not a design-focused position.
