Job Title – Publication and PR Manager

Department/Sector – Travel

Job Location – London

Salary – £38k Pro rata

Contract Length – Jan 2015 – Sept 2015

Our client is recruiting a Publications and PR Manager to cover the desk from January 2015 to September 2015.

In the role you will be responsible for growing the reputation of our client.

You must have great communication skills and have experience in media liaison, publications, social media and brand partnerships.

Our client currently produces exciting brand publications targeted to holiday makers.

You will be responsible for all written output and editing, which includes proofreading and sourcing high-quality travel writing both in-house and out of house.

Another part of the role is to research and engage with holiday makers via social media.

You must have experience in developing relationships with companies that are aligned to our client’s brand including editorial contacts across the national press and leading consumer publications.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up of group Press Trips as directed by the Head of Marketing.
  • Liaise with land and air Product Managers to work towards cost neutral Press Trips.
  • Set up of individual journalist Facility Trips in consultation with the Head of Marketing.
  • Accompany media trips when necessary.
  • Research, write and send regular press releases and news updates.
  • Liaise with the Press Cuttings Agency as required and ensure that all relevant material is received and recorded.
  • First point of contact for all media/publicity enquiries.
  • Using your existing strong media contacts, actively build relationships.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of media contacts.
  • Develop strong relationships with regional press.
  • Liaise with the relevant Managers to ensure a full two-way flow of information when planning any PR activities.
  • Represent us at selected travel shows or promotional events.
  • Prepare regular updates of PR activities.
  • Ensure all relevant staff members are kept informed about past, present or future PR activities.
  • Regularly liaise and establish strong relationships with the press offices.
Key Skills/Experience Needed:
  • Good geographical and destination knowledge.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined, able to work on own initiative and contribute positively to the team environment within the business.
  • Adaptable to a constantly changing field.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet very tight deadlines.
  • Highly organised and capable of juggling many tasks at once.
  • Extensive experience in travel PR and marketing.
  • Experience of running consumer PR campaigns for brands.
  • Degree standard education.
  • Exceptional English and grammar skills and an eye for detail.
  • Experience of producing commercial copy for a variety of audiences/purposes.
  • Experience of maintaining and developing a specific tone of voice.
