Job summary

A Lake District public sector organisation is seeking a skilled Management Accountant to oversee financial controls, budgeting and reporting. You will deliver monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and insightful narratives for senior stakeholders.

Key duties include documenting controls, coordinating assurance reviews, improving processes, and creating dashboards in Excel/Power BI. Flexible remote work with monthly office visits supports collaboration.

Qualifications

• Strong management accounting experience with monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate to non-finance colleagues.
• Experience in improving financial processes and using technology to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Review and document existing finance processes and internal controls.
• Develop and coordinate a programme of financial control and assurance reviews.
• Identify weaknesses and implement risk-based improvements.
• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and narratives.
• Develop dashboards and financial insight using Excel and Power BI.
• Support year-end reporting and external audit.
