A well-established specialist accountancy firm based near Ormskirk is seeking a Management Accountant to join its team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with previous accountancy practice experience to join a small, collaborative firm and take responsibility for delivering high-quality management accounts and financial support to a portfolio of clients.
As the Management Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and supporting schedules, reviewing performance against budgets and prior periods, and producing clear variance analysis. You will also prepare and review VAT returns, maintain balance sheet reconciliations, monitor cash flow and working capital, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and support year-end accounts preparation.
A key part of the role will be working directly with clients to help them understand their financial performance. You will build strong relationships with business owners, managers and finance teams, respond to queries, identify trends and risks, and provide commercially useful insight rather than simply producing the numbers.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within an accountancy practice, with strong management accounts experience. You will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified, approaching qualification or QBE, with a good understanding of management accounts, VAT, reconciliations, budgeting and financial analysis. You will be confident communicating financial information to non-financial stakeholders, highly organised and able to manage recurring monthly deadlines.
This is an opportunity to join a small firm where you will have genuine responsibility, direct client exposure and the opportunity to develop your technical accounting and advisory skills. The role offers hybrid working, with the successful candidate initially working predominantly from the firm's office.
The salary on offer is £40,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
