Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking a Digital Design & Development Officer to research, design, develop and improve public digital services. You’ll work with teams across the council to create user-centred, accessible solutions and support major transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities include designing and testing forms and transactions, delivering frontend solutions and backend automations, and using data to continually improve services for residents and businesses.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, developing or improving digital products.
• Knowledge of web technologies and accessibility standards.
• Ability to work with stakeholders across teams to identify needs and opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and test public forms, transactions and automations for council services.
• Design and maintain digital frontend solutions and backend automation to improve user experience and efficiency.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the council to understand needs and identify opportunities for digital improvement.
• Create accessible, user-friendly content and digital experiences for a wide range of users.
• Use user feedback, research and performance data to continuously improve services.
