Job summary

Derby City Council is recruiting an Accountancy Apprentice to join the Accountancy – Service Support team. You will work toward the AAT Level 4 qualification while gaining practical public sector accounting experience, including inputting journals and running financial reports.

The role offers a structured apprenticeship with a fixed term of 2 years, 37 hours per week, and a salary of £17,710 per year. Training and development are central to the role within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• GCSEs grade C/4 or above including Maths and English or equivalent.
• Working toward AAT qualification (Level 4) ideally.
• Proficient in Excel and Word and strong numeracy.

Responsibilities

• Process journals to record financial transactions.
• Check accuracy of financial transactions and investigate discrepancies.
• Perform account reconciliations and prepare reports.
• Support month-end and year-end accounting processes.
