Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Public Health Analyst to deliver insights, undertake research, and support evidence-based public health initiatives. The role focuses on monitoring smoking cessation performance, spend and outcomes across West Sussex, and leading data collection, extraction, analysis and reporting for the smoking service.

You will work in the Public Health Directorate to shape services, inform decision-making, and improve health outcomes for local communities.

Qualifications

• Degree, or equivalent qualification or experience, demonstrating applied knowledge in researching, analysing and evaluating information.
• Experience of high-level research contributing to strategic plans and policies.
• Experience providing professional advice to senior staff and partners.

Responsibilities

• Monitor local smoking cessation performance, spend and outcomes; lead data collection, extraction, analysis and reporting.
• Analyse data from multiple sources to inform decisions and improve health outcomes.
• Design methodologies, interpret complex information and propose long-term strategies.
• Collaborate with WSCC and NHS partners to understand data governance and support decision making.
• Set out analytical plans with milestones and deliverables for Public Health projects.
