Job summary

Slough Borough Council is seeking an experienced Public Health Intelligence Officer to provide high-quality data analysis and intelligence to support public health and community safety priorities. The role will lead on the collection, analysis and interpretation of data for the Safer Slough Partnership (SSP), helping to identify trends, understand local needs and inform strategic priorities.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in Public Health or health intelligence.
  • Strong experience analysing statistical and health-related data.
  • Experience working with multiple datasets and information systems.
  • Experience producing analytical reports, dashboards and performance information for senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working collaboratively across organisations and partnerships.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and statistical/data analysis methods.
  • Knowledge or experience of GIS/geographical analysis and mapping.
  • Understanding of public health intelligence, health indicators and evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear, meaningful recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the collection, management and analysis of crime and community safety data.
  • Analyse trends relating to crime, knife crime, domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour and other community safety issues.
  • Support specialist projects relating to priorities such as FGM and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc analytical reports, dashboards, presentations and performance information.
  • Produce hotspot maps and geographical analysis at street, ward and borough level.
  • Support the Safer Slough Partnership’s tasking groups and strategic decision-making through high-quality intelligence.
  • Lead on the production of the SSP Strategic Assessment, using evidence to identify future priorities.
  • Evaluate crime and anti-social behaviour reduction initiatives and assess their impact and outcomes.
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, needs and opportunities for service improvement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of public health dashboards and JSNA resources.
  • Produce health indicators, performance analysis and intelligence for senior managers, boards and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake forecasting, demand management and needs analysis to support strategic planning.
  • Contribute to needs assessments, health impact assessments, health equity audits and programme reviews.
  • Ensure confidential and sensitive information is handled and shared appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with Council departments, NHS/health organisations, police and other external partners.
  • Respond to ad-hoc information and data requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide advice on research methods, consultation, performance measures, benchmarking and evaluation.
  • Present complex data and intelligence clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
