Job summary

National Park Authority in Brecon is seeking a Visitor Centres Estate Warden. The role involves maintaining external grounds and delivering minor maintenance of buildings, primarily at the National Park Visitor Centre and Craig y Nos Country Park.

The role requires practical grounds maintenance experience, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to work both independently and with volunteers. The position is 37 hours per week at Grade 4, with a pro rata salary range of £27,709–£29,071.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds, estate or property maintenance with safe use of hand/power tools.
• Ability to follow health and safety requirements and apply them in practical work.
• Ability to identify maintenance needs, prioritise tasks and report issues promptly.
• Ability to care for and check vehicles, plant, tools and PPE.
• Effective communication with colleagues, volunteers, contractors and the public.

Responsibilities

• Carry out practical estate, grounds and property maintenance as allocated by the Commercial Manager.
• Use initiative to address or report tasks observed during routine work.
• Ensure safe working practices and health and safety compliance.
• Maintain care of vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and PPE.
• Contribute to cleanliness and presentation of grounds at visitor sites.
• Work with staff and volunteers on larger practical works.
• Maintain accurate records of work carried out.
• Manage grounds maintenance budget and report to the Commercial Manager.
• Contribute to welcoming visitors at the Visitor Centre and other sites.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade as required.
