Acorn Pubs is seeking an ambitious Pub Manager for The Crown & Thistle in Abingdon. Lead a multifaceted business with 20 bedrooms, events and functions, and an independent restaurant, with a site undergoing a refurbishment next year as part of a wider investment across the estate.

The Crown & Thistle is an exciting and unique opportunity for an ambitious Pub Manager to take the lead at one of the Acorn Pubs estate’s most multifaceted businesses.

With 20 bedrooms, a busy events and functions operation and an independent restaurant, there is plenty going on – and even more potential.

The site is due to undergo a full refurbishment in the new year as part of a wider investment project across the Acorn estate. Recent refurbishments across the estate have been a huge success, creating exciting new spaces, driving increased trade and unlocking significant potential – and The Crown & Thistle is next.

This is an opportunity to join at a pivotal point in the pub’s journey.

With the refurbishment on the horizon and significant scope to develop the business over the next few years, we’re looking for a Pub Manager who can see the bigger picture, embrace change and make things happen.

The Crown & Thistle is heavily function-led, offering huge opportunities to maximise weddings, celebrations, corporate events and other occasions, while continuing to develop the independent restaurant and accommodation offer.

You will have the opportunity to build on what already works, identify new opportunities and, alongside your team, create a business that becomes a real destination within the local community.
