Job summary

Sussex Inns is seeking an Assistant Manager for a busy pub in Chichester. You will work closely with the general manager to oversee daily operations and ensure excellent customer service, staff supervision, and a positive work environment.

You will assist with opening/closing, cash handling, inventory, health & safety compliance, and help drive sales through events and promotions while managing costs and vendor relationships.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supervising pub staff.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work with the general manager and coordinate events.

Responsibilities

• Staff Supervision: Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising pub staff.
• Customer Service: Foster a customer-centric environment and ensure exceptional service.
• Operations Management: Assist in opening/closing, cash handling, and inventory management.
• Sales & Marketing: Develop and implement promotions to attract customers and boost revenue.
• Financial Management: Monitor expenses, control costs, and assist in budgeting.
• Teamwork and Communication: Promote teamwork and liaise with suppliers and partners.
• Compliance: Ensure licensing and health & safety compliance.
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve operational issues and support the GM.
• Pub Maintenance: Coordinate maintenance and report issues.
• Training and Development: Deliver staff training and keep up with industry trends.
