Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is looking for a confident and ambitious Psychology Graduate with a genuine passion for education. The role involves supporting secondary-aged students (11-16) in a school in Altrincham, particularly those struggling for any reason, including supporting their academic work or pastoral needs. Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, PTSD, or ADHD is essential.

Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant

Type of work: General Teaching Assistant work with small groups of children with SEMH needs

Start date: February 2025

End date: July 2025

Duration: Temporary

Full time

Minimum rate: £100 per day

Hours: 8:30 am - 4 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

Responsibilities:

• Supporting children with SEN (Special Educational Needs)
• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs
• Creating an environment where pupils can reach their full potential
• Building rapport with children, supporting their social and behavioral needs, and acting as a mentor

Role Requirements:

• Psychology (BA Hons) degree
• Enhanced DBS (clean, relevant, on the update service) – can be obtained through Prospero Teaching
• Safeguarding certificate, Prevent awareness, FGM – essential
• Behavior management training – desirable
• Enthusiastic and committed attitude
• Passion for enriching young people's education
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships

Previous experience working with young people and good knowledge of SEMH/behavioral difficulties are preferred.
