Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking Psychology graduates to work as SEN Teaching Assistants in Canterbury and surrounding areas. This full-time role offers £93 per day with an ASAP start, Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm.

You will support pupils with SLD, PMLD, ASC, and sensory needs on a 1:1 or small-group basis, applying your psychology knowledge in a practical education setting. Gain hands-on experience in SEN schools, develop personal care and communication skills, and collaborate with teachers

Qualifications

• A degree in Psychology or related subject.
• Interest in working with children with SEN.
• Willingness to learn about SEN and EHCPs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Willingness to assist with personal care and DBS checks.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis with needs including SLD, PMLD, ASC, and sensory impairments.
• Apply psychology-based understanding to development, behaviour, and communication in a school setting.
• Assist with personalised learning programmes aligned to EHCP goals.
• Develop positive relationships and support emotional and behavioural needs.
• Support with pupil independence, social skills, and effective communication.
• Provide care while maintaining dignity and privacy as required.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to foster an inclusive environment.
• Observe and respond to individual needs to gain practical experience relevant to a psychology degree.
• Be a positive role model focused on making a difference in children’s lives.
