Job Opportunities in Education Support

Protocol Education is seeking passionate individuals to support young people in specialist education settings, including Pupil Referral Units, SEMH Schools, and alternative education environments across West and North Yorkshire. Positions available include Teaching Assistants, Tutors, and Support Workers, many of which lead to permanent roles.

These roles are ideal for those interested in building a career in education, especially if you are planning to undertake teacher training or work with young people in broader contexts. Many graduates have started with us and progressed to their dream jobs in education and related fields.

Candidate Requirements and Preferences
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and improving their outcomes.
  • Experience in youth community work, either voluntary or paid.
  • Educational background in Drama, Sports Coaching, or Psychology is preferred.
  • Outgoing, confident, and able to work independently.
  • Some experience with SEND (Special Educational Needs), SEMH, PMLD, Autism, or other learning needs.
  • Experience in residential support or as a care worker is advantageous.
  • Willingness to undertake Team Teach or physical intervention training.
  • Experience in mentoring or providing 1:1 tuition in English, Maths, or Science.
  • Support roles in teaching/learning assistance, numeracy, and literacy support.
Requirements for Support Workers
  • DBS certificate with a subscription to the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Two professional references from the last five years and a CV covering 10 years.
  • A commitment to safeguarding young people.
Additional Information

All applicants must have the appropriate qualifications and training. Pay rates include statutory holiday pay. These are temporary roles, with potential for permanent positions later.

Protocol Education is fully compliant and takes safeguarding seriously, conducting necessary checks in accordance with 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'. We offer free online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training. All candidates must undertake a DBS check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
