Overview
An exciting new job opportunity has arisen for a committed Consultant Psychiatrist to work in an exceptional mental health hospital based in the Romford, Essex area. You will be working for one of UK's leading health care providers. This service helps patients rebuild confidence, self-esteem and hopes for the future. Care provided over two wards and they offer an age-appropriate environment for those who also have a mental health/personality disorder and/or mild to moderate dementia and are in need of physical health care needs.
Responsibilities
- Hold a CCST/CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of Psychiatry.
- Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
- Fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
- Supervise the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.
- Offer a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of young people.
- Contribute to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contribute to the development of service strategy.
- Contribute to in-house training programmes within the services and offer supervision to other members of the multi-disciplinary team, particularly junior medical staff.
- Maintain CPD and re-validation requirements, as determined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or other relevant statutory bodies.
- Demonstrate experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties.
- Be knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.
- Be a first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes.
- Be committed to continued professional development.
- Be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Requirements
- Experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties (already covered above).
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Health Act Code of Practice and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Salary & Benefits
- The successful Consultant Psychiatrist will receive an excellent salary up to £160,000 per annum. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours a week.
