Job summary

Arriva London North Limited is seeking a skilled PSV Mechanic to service and maintain a diverse fleet of buses and coaches in our London workshop. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and service vehicles to keep them safe and reliable in line with company standards and DVSA requirements.

The ideal candidate has PSV experience, a valid UK PCV entitlement (or willingness to obtain it), and a strong track record of using diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Proven experience as a PSV Mechanic, ideally within a bus or coach operating environment.
• Valid UK Driving Licence, ideally with Category D (PCV) entitlement, or willingness to obtain it.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities across a range of vehicle systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and servicing on PSVs.
• Diagnose and rectify faults using diagnostic equipment and manuals.
• Carry out repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Prepare vehicles for MOTs and ensure DVSA compliance.
• Document work, parts, time, and defects in company systems.
• Follow health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist with breakdown recovery and roadside assistance as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized workshop and pursue ongoing technical training.
