Job summary

Arriva Group is seeking an experienced PSV Mechanic to service, diagnose, repair, and maintain PSV vehicles as part of a busy engineering team in the UK. The role supports the introduction of electric buses and other new technology within a safety-conscious workshop environment.

You will perform diagnostics, fault finding, MOT prep, and safety checks, with shift work across early, late, and weekend patterns. A Level 3 qualification and a valid UK driving license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as PSV/HGV mechanic or engineer (auto, heavy vehicle, or rail considered).
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Electrical systems knowledge desirable.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintenance, and repair of PSV vehicles.
• Diagnostic and fault finding using modern equipment.
• MOT preparation and preventive maintenance inspections.
• Vehicle safety inspections and quality control checks.
• Roadside breakdown response and reactive repairs.
• Work within a skilled engineering team and use workshop tech.
• Shift work including early, late, and weekends (5 days out of 7).

£26.35 per hour
Full-time | 5 out of 7 shift rota (mornings, afternoons & late shifts)

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a PSV/HGV mechanic or engineer (automotive, heavy vehicle, or rail considered)
• Level 3 qualification in Vehicle or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Full UK driving license (PCV/HGV desirable, but not essential)
• Electrical systems knowledge (desirable but not essential)

Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including evenings and weekends
